This is the most common application. Yuri wheels are designed to handle everything from heavy material removal to fine finishing.
Weld Blending: Smoothing out weld beads to create a seamless joint between two pieces of metal.
Deburring: Removing sharp edges (burrs) left behind after cutting or drilling metal.
Rust & Paint Removal: Cleaning oxidized surfaces or stripping old coatings without gouging the base metal as deeply as a solid grinding wheel might.
Edge Chamfering: Creating beveled edges on metal plates or pipes before welding.
2. Surface Finishing & Polishing
Because the flaps are flexible, they conform better to shapes than rigid discs.
Surface Preparation: Prepping metal for painting, powder coating, or plating by creating a uniform 'key' (texture) for the coating to bond to.
Blending Scratches: Removing surface defects or tool marks from previous machining steps.
Fine Polishing: Using higher grits (like 80 or 120) to achieve a smoother, more aesthetic 'brushed' finish on stainless steel or aluminum.
3. Woodworking
While less common than metal use, they are effective for:
Heavy Sanding: Rapidly removing material from flat or contoured wooden surfaces.
Shaping: Curving edges or cleaning up rough-cut timber.
Cleaning: Removing old varnish or stubborn stains from reclaimed wood.
